What is hardwood floor resurfacing?
Resurfacing is our unique and innovative system that softly sands away any dullness, scuffs, dents, or other impurities in your hardwood floor. It does not affect the original stain color of your floors and does not sand away precious wood. It can be used on all types of wood flooring and is the most cost-effective flooring service we offer. With a starting price of only 99¢ per square foot, it is the most affordable resurfacing service in the area. Also, you can look forward to our turnaround time. Most resurfacing projects only take a couple of hours to complete, compared to our competitor’s 2 days.
What is hardwood floor refinishing?
Refinishing means sanding your floors down to bare wood, re-staining and applying polyurethane. If oil-based polyurethane is desired, we will apply 2 coats and lightly sand between coats. With water-based poly; 3 coats are used with light sanding between coats 1 and 2 and scuffing between coats 2 and 3. Of course we “tack” (clean the dust) prior to each coat. Customers are most familiar with this method over others; it takes 2 to 4 days and provides the homeowner with a finish that is as close to perfection as humanly possible. With our low prices, it is a very affordable hardwood refinishing service in the Denver area.
Which service do I need – refinishing or resurfacing?
We will guide you with pros and cons of each method, we will not sell you a service that will not deliver what you want. A deep scratch here and there may not be a bad thing. While some call it “character” and others turn it into a great story, some simply don’t see the “value added” with the increased expense of removing the deeper scratches. One thing to keep in minds is that with pets and children, removing these scratches may only be a temporary thing. Maybe resurfacing is the right direction, maybe all you need to do is to protect your long term investment. Don’t hesitate to give us a call so that we can talk this through with you. We will not push you into a service that you don’t need; we will simply help you understand your options.
I have pet stains on my hardwood floor, can you fix it?
Cleaning the pet accidents when they are fresh is the key to maintaining your hardwood floors. If cleaning with the steps outlined below doesn’t fix the problem area, then the urine has probably soaked into your flooring and more serious restoration work will be required. But that’s okay; chances are we can help! We can handle most pet stains, but contact us to determine the severity of your case.
What do I use to clean pet stains on my floors?
Some simple household ingredients can be put to good use to clean urine stains on your hardwood floors. We recommend using white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 4 parts water). Prepare a spray bottle for the smaller accidents and a bucket for the bigger stains. Scrub stains thoroughly with a clean washcloth or rag. After you’re sure its clean, wipe it completely dry. Then, dry it again. Do not use anything containing ammonia; pet urine has ammonia and if you clean with the same stuff, your pets will think that’s the designated place to urinate.
Are your refinishing and resurfacing services really dust free?
Anytime sanding is involved with hardwood floors, dust will be present. However, our service uses state of the art equipment that thoroughly removes dust particles simultaneously while sanding. This process creates very little dust; equipment mounted vacuums pull the dust straight from the floor, what remains is a very light coating of dust on the floor that we are able to remove. The remaining dust on the floor is vacuumed up, then the surface is cleaned with tack rags. Unlike other hardwood refinishing services, no airborne dust is generated with Fabulous Floors Denver.
Is your process odorless?
For resurfacing, we use only waterborne products that are “Greenguard” certified. The only smell is a very light, pleasant aroma. Refinishing, however, does entail more sanding, staining, and finishing, which does bring some odor with it. We use solutions that minimize odor and allow you to get back to your everyday routine in your home without the strong odors of typical wood stains and finishes.
The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, part of UL Environment, has the mission of protecting human health and quality of life by improving indoor air quality and reducing chemical exposure. The GREENGUARD Certification Program helps in-home service businesses like ours create – and helps buyers identify – interior products and materials that have low chemical emissions, improving the quality of the air in which the products are used.
